Change Your Color Changing Candle into a Color Changing Cup!

How to Remove Leftover Candle Wax from Jar

Option 1: Use Boiling Water

  1. Place your almost empty candle jar on a protective surface, like a dish towel or a potholder

  2. Fill a pot with enough water to fill the candle jar and allow the water to come to a boil. Then pour the boiling water carefully into the candle jar, leaving an inch of space at the top. The water will melt the candle wax, causing it to float to the surface of the jar

  3. Let the jar and water cool completely before removing the wax, which will begin to harden again. Remove any clumps of wax with a spoon or strain the water to remove any leftover candle bits

  4. Pour out the rest of the water, but do not let any wax go down the drain as it can clog it

  5. Repeat the steps above if candle wax lingers in the jar, until all wax is removed

  6. Remove the wick holder with a butter knife if it’s stuck in place

  7. Once you have removed all of the wax, use warm water, soap, and a sponge/towel to clean the jar and then wipe dry with a dish towel or paper towel

Option 2: Put Jar in Freezer

  1. Put the candle jar in your freezer overnight. The wax will shrink when frozen, which should allow it to loosen from the jar.

  2. Flip the jar upside down and the wax should fall out. Otherwise, use a butter knife or spoon to scrape out any extra wax

  3. Remove the wick holder with a butter knife if it’s stuck in place

  4. Once you have removed all of the wax, use warm water, soap, and a sponge/towel to clean the jar and then wipe dry with a dish towel or paper towel
